Why Interior Painting Fits the Months Ahead
Once the exterior painting window closes for the season, the inside of the house is where a paint project can keep moving. RYA Painting & Remodeling offers interior and exterior painting across Burnsville and the west and south metro, and as Minnesota moves from fall into winter, more of daily life happens indoors. Walls, ceilings and trim get looked at more often, and the rooms we use most start to show scuffs, worn spots and colors that no longer fit. Interior work does not depend on dry mornings or a mild afternoon, which makes late fall a practical time to plan it.
It also pairs well with the holidays. A freshly painted living room, entry or dining room is a simple way to get the house ready for guests without a major renovation.
Which Rooms to Start With
You do not have to repaint the whole house at once. Many homeowners pick the spaces that get the most use, or the ones guests see first.
- Living and dining rooms. These are the rooms most likely to host family and friends, so they are a natural place to start.
- Entryways and hallways. They take daily wear from coats, bags and traffic, and a fresh coat makes a clear difference.
- Ceilings and trim. Painting these along with the walls gives a room a finished, consistent look.
- Kitchens and bathrooms. If the cabinets are part of what feels tired, our cabinet refinishing service can be planned alongside a repaint, as we covered in our post on refreshing cabinets before the holidays.
What an Interior Painting Project Involves
We follow the same four steps on every job, whether it is one room or a whole floor.
Prep & Protect
Floors, trim, fixtures and furniture get masked and protected before a single coat goes on, so your home stays clean through the project.
Prime as Needed
Where a surface calls for it, we prime first so the finish coats bond evenly and the new color looks the way it should.
Two Finish Coats
Two finish coats go on for even coverage and a finish that holds up to everyday living.
Walkthrough
Before we call a room finished, we walk it with you, so nothing is signed off until it looks right.
Planning Ahead Before the Calendar Fills
A little lead time helps. Reaching out earlier gives us room to fit a project in around the other work on our schedule, and it gives you time to settle on colors and decide which rooms to include. A few things worth thinking about:
- Decide on the priority rooms first. Knowing which spaces matter most makes the estimate conversation faster.
- Think about timing around guests. If a room needs to be ready for a particular gathering, tell us up front so we can plan around it.
- Take advantage of a free estimate. A walkthrough costs nothing and carries no obligation, and it is an easy way to see what a project involves.
